Michael Carrick Ends United Caretaker Spell With Arsenal Win on Thursday Night

Manchester United appointed club legend Carrick to hold the reigns after Ole’s departure whiles they(United) search for a long lasting solution to their managerial problems.

United’s legendary midfielder Michael Carrick was appointed on November 21,2021. Since then, he has played three impressive games as a manager to lead United to two wins and a draw averaging 2.33 points per match.

In a quick review of his stats as a caretaker manager, he managed to turn things around for United in a short term.
Against Villarreal in the Champions league game saw his side beat Villarreal to a 2:0 win. It is worth noting United hasn’t been in good form against Villarreal from the 2020/21 season. Most notably was their lost in the Europa league final. However, under Carrick, their story was a win in the Champions league match.

Carrick played Chelsea at Stamford Bridge, current Champions league winners and top of Premier league table. This Premier league clash was anticipated by many to be a thrashing of United. Even though Chelsea dominated the play on all fronts, Michael almost left the Bridge with all 3 points only for Chelsea to get lucky with an equalizing penalty. A point at the bridge was a good step in their Premier league campaign.

Against Arsenal at Old Trafford, even after an early goal from Arsenal, United completed a 3:2 come back to place them at 21 points after 14 matches and 7th on the Premier league table.

As Carrick steps down to pave way for German tactician Ralf Rangnick, with 24 goals scored and 24 goals conceded, United are in a good state to start with a clean slate and move into the top 4 by end of season.
